About the Machine

AnoleX no longer sells this model, but it remains fully supported in Easel. The 4030-Evo Ultra runs a 500W spindle rated at 10,000 RPM with an ER11 1/8in chuck, HGH-15 dual linear guides and 1204 ball screws on all axes, and Nema 23 steppers rated 2.8A, 1.2 N·m. Its working area is 400 x 300 x 130 mm (15.7 x 11.8 x 5.1 in).

Cut Settings on this Machine

Every cut starts with one formula: Feed Rate = Spindle Speed (RPM) x Chip Load x Number of Cutting Edges (flutes). Chip load is the thickness of material each cutting edge removes in one revolution of the bit. This number comes from the manufacturer of the bit, which publishes a chip-load chart for each bit diameter and material. Look up your exact bit and material, start from the middle of the published range, and you have the third number in the formula. The chart below shows the recommended spindle speed for each material and bit type.

If this machine's spindle cannot reach the listed speed, run the spindle at its maximum and control the cut with feed rate. For 65mm trim routers, the DeWalt DW611 dial maps to: 1 = 16,000; 2 = 18,200; 3 = 20,400; 4 = 22,600; 5 = 24,800; 6 = 27,000 RPM.

The 4030-Evo Ultra's 500W spindle is rated at 10,000 RPM. Its HGH-15 dual linear guides and 1204 ball screws on all axes are the most rigid drive AnoleX offers on this format, and the Nema 23 steppers give it more torque than the smaller 3030 and 3060 machines. That combination can support deeper passes than a belt- or lead-screw machine, but a truly rigid setup capable of cutting as deep as the bit is wide in one pass also needs clamps that hold firm and enough mass to soak up vibration, so still work up to depth rather than assume it. Push too deep too fast and the bit deflects and chatters, leaving scalloped edges, or it rubs instead of cutting and burns the material. The fastest way to dial in a cut is to see what has already worked for other people.

Worked example for feed rate: 1/8in (3.175mm) two-flute solid carbide end mill in hard wood. The 4030-Evo Ultra's 500W spindle tops out at 10,000 RPM. With the bit maker's 0.025mm per tooth (0.0010 in): 10,000 RPM x 0.025 x 2 = 500 mm/min (19.7 in/min). For depth per pass, start shallow and check Community Cut Settings in Easel for what works on this machine. If the cut sounds strained, reduce the depth, not the feed. Slowing the feed below the chip load makes the bit rub instead of cut.

Using this machine with Easel

The AnoleX 4030-Evo Ultra runs Grbl_ESP32 (GRBL 1.3a). Easel's live control, the Easel Driver and Rapid Connect, works with classic GRBL and FluidNC over USB, so it does not carve this machine in real time. Use Easel to design and generate toolpaths, then export the G-code and run it from the machine's own controller over USB or WiFi using the ESP3D web interface (or SD card). Because Easel's G-code is standard GRBL, it runs as-is. Select 4030-Evo Ultra in Easel's machine menu to size the canvas.
