Quick Specs

Cuttable Area

4 x 8 ft (defined by the length of two #25 roller chains; can be resized by adding or removing chain links)

Router not included; Ridgid R2200 recommended (AEG MF 1400 KE in the EU). Cutting depth limited by the router's own plunge travel, about 1.5in on the recommended router.

Stepper Motors

None. The Original uses DC gearmotors with quadrature encoders (191:1 gearbox, 8148 counts/rev) in a closed-loop feedback system, not stepper motors

Drive System

Two #25 roller chains (chain-and-sprocket triangulation sled)

Controller
Arduino Mega 2560 (Keystudio-compatible) with a custom Maslow CNC Motor Shield using dual L298P H-bridge drivers, running Maslow's own firmware

Using this machine with Easel

The Maslow CNC (Original Kit) runs Maslow's own firmware on an Arduino Mega 2560 with a custom Motor Shield, a proprietary control system that is not GRBL or FluidNC, so Easel's live Driver and driverless Rapid Connect do not connect to it. To cut on this machine, set up a Non-GRBL Machine Profile in Easel, design your project, then use Project > Download G-code to save an .nc file. Load that file into Maslow's own control software on the computer wired to the machine over USB, such as GroundControl or a compatible webcontrol interface, and run the cut from there.

Prefer not to install anything? Rapid Connect lets any GRBL machine, this one included, connect straight from your browser. If you go the driver route, grab it from the downloads page and follow the step-by-step install guide.
