There is a new Easel feature in R&D to generate bas-relief type files. Would you be interested in getting on the list to test it when it's ready for users to try out?
Hey man nice design. do you just have the duck without the background? Also would like to do the inverted version to be a able to glue the 2 side together to make it 3d. Is that possible?
I can try to make a new one without the background. I'm not sure about the inverted version but I'll give it a try on 2 halves in a new project. I'll do it as a remake of this one so you can find it.
Hey John, thanks for the tip that will work great! Is there anyway I could get the file with just the duck so that I don't have to cut the whole background? Thanks!

I'm curious about your bit selection. I'm not convinced you'd get much detail with a 1/8" bit. The neck of the bird looks especially hard to carve

Looks great! What bits did you use?
Darren McGarry · February 22, 2026
I haven't carved it yet but I would use a 1/8" ball end mill.

Where did you get the 3D model from?
Jeff TalbotPro · March 06, 2026
The model was generated from a 2D image

What program did you use to create the image, carve file?

Hey Justin, I was inspired by your comment about inverting the model to carve both sides. You can now "Flip" a model on a 3D workpiece!
